The Flinders University Cetacean Ecology, Behaviour and Evolution Lab (CEBEL) is a multi-disciplinary group that works at the interface of animal behaviour, population ecology, and evolutionary biology.
Our research seeks to understand the ecological, behavioural, and evolutionary processes shaping the diversity, distribution, abundance, population structure, habitat use, movements, social structure, behaviour, and health of whales and dolphins, and the impacts of environmental change on their populations.
Our work aims to provide impartial, independent, and innovative science that addresses both pure and applied questions about whales and dolphins and their interactions with the environment.
CEBEL works together with governments, non-governmental organizations, and industry on emerging issues of concern for whale and dolphin conservation. Last but not least, we provide training to students through undergraduate teaching and postgraduate supervision.
